Touring caravan insurance is typically easy to understand and selecting a product suitable for your particular circumstances should not be too much trouble. Even so, given the probable value of your caravan, it is subject worth taking seriously.

Definition of touring caravan

In terms of the fine detail, some insurers may use different definitions to others. For the most part, however, a touring caravan is one that is normally towed behind a vehicle and which is capable of being unhitched prior to its use for holiday accommodation purposes.

Both motorhomes and trailer tents have their own insurance categories and should not be confused with a touring caravan.

  • touring caravans may be at their most vulnerable when they are parked up and not in use during the closed season some policies may impose conditions relating to the draining down of water systems and they may also offer discounts if your caravan is securely stored off-road during the same period;

You may also be able to obtain discounts on your touring caravan insurance if you use additional alarm systems and other security devices to protect your property.
